Description
The MIT311.88-2 is a heavy-duty, galvanized steel, top-flange hanger engineered for connecting a double 2-1/2″ (or 2-9/16″) × 11-7/8″ I-joist pair to a supporting header or beam at a 90° angle. Because it uses a “top-flange” design, the I-joist(s) sit flush with the top of the header — creating a clean, stable connection ideal for residential, multi-family, or light-commercial floor framing or engineered-wood joist systems.
This hanger is designed to provide strong load-bearing capacity while ensuring fast, reliable installation for repetitive framing layouts.
Features
Top-Flange (Flush) Design: Allows joists to be installed flush with the carrying header — minimal build-up, clean interface, and neat framing layout.
Double I-Joist Support: Sized for double 2-1/2″ (or 2-9/16″) × 11-7/8″ I-joists — ideal when extra load-bearing capacity or stiffness is required.
Positive-Angle Nailing (PAN): Nail holes channel nails at an approximate 45° angle — reduces splitting of I-joist flanges and makes installation faster and more reliable.
Optional Uplift Strengthening: Additional triangle nail holes allow for increased uplift resistance when used with proper web stiffeners.
Durable 16-Gauge Steel Construction: Provides structural strength suitable for heavy loads and long-term performance.
G90 Zinc Galvanized Finish: Offers corrosion resistance — good for standard indoor framing and typical building environments.
Easy Pre-Install & Joist Placement: The “Funnel Flange” design simplifies placing the I-joists into the hanger — good for repetitive framing, efficiency, and labour savings.
Applications
Residential floor framing using engineered I-joists (single or double joists).
Multi-family or light-commercial wood-framed structures where load capacity and repeatable performance are required.
Flush-beam systems — where joist top surfaces align flush with header tops for minimal build-up and neat framing.
Projects needing uplift resistance (wind, seismic, or vibration-prone structures) — when used with optional triangle-nail holes + web stiffeners.
